Install SAP GUI 7.40 for Mac 1) Download the SAP GUI installation file PlatinGUI740#-MacOSX.jar. When the download has finished, double-click this file. 2) If the following error message occurs, proceed to the next step. SAP GUI 7.4 is the latest version for JAVA. This provides support to other operating systems and was released in October, 2014. As SAP GUI for Java 7.40 is not available on DVD right now, you need to proceed to the patches section on the SAP Support Portal to download SAP GUI for Java 7.40. I suggest you to use SAP GUI Java 7.40 rev 7 (released recently) remember to update Oracle java (system preferences tab 'update') on earlier version of Os X ( SAP GUI Java 7.30. Probably you have to change java VMOptions for SAP GUI increasing the value of '-Xms' option.

  1. As everybody Aware that SAP has release SAP GUI 7.40 on 8th of October 2014. Install SAP GUI 7.40 for Mac This document was written based on the Mac OSX Mavericks (10.10.2) operating system with Java JDK 8.

1 - Software & Hardware Requirements

Supported Operating Systems:

  • Windows Vista
  • Windows 7

  • Windows 8.1
  • Windows 10 supported starting with FEP600
  • Windows 2008 Server

  • Windows 2012 R2 Server

Supported Microsoft Office:

  • only 32 BIT Versions
  • Microsoft Office 2010, 2013, 2016
  • Microsoft Office 365 - Please read detail information in note 1973324.

.NET Framework

  • Versions 3.0, 4.0, 4.5 and 4.6 are supported
  • Version 2.0 is mandatory and should be installed along with a newer version

Please note:

  • SAP GUI and BEx Frontend must have the same version (for e.g. SAP GUI 7.40 fits to BI Add-On based on 7.40)
  • Its strongly recommended to use the latest patches of SAP GUI and BEx Frontend.
  • Office 64 BIT versions are NOT supported for BEx tools, see note 1995532.

2 - The installation includes:

  • SAP GUI for Windows 740
  • SAP GUI Patch
  • SAP BI Addon 7.0 for SAP GUI
  • BI 7.0 AddOn Patch for GUI
  • xPreCalServer (only for Precalculation Server)

3 - Preparing the installation:

Cached

  1. Download the Frontend-DVD from the SAP Service Market Place:

  2. Extract the Frontend-DVD ZIP file.
  3. Click here: Current BI ADDON for SAP GUI 740 to download latest patchs from SAP Service Market Place:
    • SAP GUI Patch,
    • BI 7.0 Addon Patch and
    • Precalculation Server (only for Precalculation Server)

4 - Installation steps:

  1. uninstall the Frontend and SAP GUI
    Windows > Start > Control Panel > Program and Features > remove
    - SAP Business Explorer
    - SAP GUI for Windows 7.x
    - SAP BW Preclaculation Service (only on Precalculation Server)
  2. make sure that that bw containing folders were deleted:
    - C:Program Files (x86)SAPBusiness ExplorerBI
    - C:Program Files (x86)SAPBusiness ExplorerBI_Prec (only on Precalculation Server)
    - C:Program Files (x86)SAPFrontEndBw
    - C:Program Files (x86)Common FilesSAP SharedBW
  3. restart the PC
  4. start the Front-End Installer from Frontend-CD:
    • folder: ..BD_NW_7.0_Presentation_7.40_Comp._1_PRES1GUIWINDOWSWIN32
    • file: SetupAll.exe
    • select/install ..
      [x] SAP GUI for Windows 7.40 (Compilation 1)
      [x] Business Explorer
  5. update to latest SAP GUI patch
  6. update to latest SAP BI AddOn patch
  7. install SAP BW Precalculation Service (only for Precalculation Server)
    • Folder: ..BD_NW_7.0_Presentation_7.40_Comp._1_PRES1BI_PreCalServer
    • file: SetupAll.exe
    • select/install ..
      [x] SAP BW Precalculation Service
  8. update to latest SAP BW Precalculation patch

5 - Installation check:

Step 1 Validate JAVA is enable and running the latest version.

· On the Finder tool bar, click the Apple icon in the upper left corner and select System Preferences > Java.
· On the Java Control Panel, click the Update tab and validate you're on Java 8 Update 40. If you're not, please update your Java.
· Open Firefox and validate you're JAVA Applet Plug-in is turned on and running Java 8 Update 40. To validate, click Tools > Add Ons. Click Plugins on the left panel. You can tell if it's 'off' if you have a 'disable' button on the right side.
On the above screen you may want to click 'Check to see if you plugins are up-to-date'. On the pop-up screen you should see your JAVA is up-to-date and pointing to Java 8 Update 40.

Close down the browser to activate the changes.

Step 2 Update the SAP GUI

Step 2 Update the SAP GUI


Starting on Thursday, April 2nd , using Firefox, when you click the SAP Logon Production Mac link in Firefly, you'll automatically be guided through the update process at outlined below.
Within Firefly, click the SAP Logon Production Mac link.
If you receive the 'Do you want to run this application?' pop-up, click Run.
An introduction pop-up window will open, click Next
A Readme pop-up window will open, click Next
An Installation Options pop-up window will open, click Install.
Installation will begin.
When the installation is completed, you'll receive the following pop-up window. Click Close.
If you receive the following pop-up box, use the drop down and select the 'Productive: Fully Trusted. Needs access to local resources' and click OK.
You may need to click the SAP Logon Production Mac link again to open the SAP GUI if the SAP GUI doesn't automatically load.
· If the SAP GUI does not open, using Firefox, follow these steps:
  • On Firefox, select Tools
  • Using the dropdown, click Add-Ons
  • On the pop-up window, click Plugins and if you are using the Java Applet Plugin version 51, then do the following
  • On the Finder tool bar, click the Apple icon in the upper left corner and select System Preferences > Java
  • On the JAVA Control Panel, select the General tab and under the 'Temporary Internet Files' section, click on the Setting button.
  • Uncheck the 'Keep temporary files on my computer' and then click OK > Apply > OK.
  • Restart Firefox, log into Firefly and re-launch the SAP GUI.
